Once again, a field of 16 (not runners
this time but snowshoers), successfully followed all the red arrows in the snow
and the red pie plates on the trees, and completed the trail loop. The two race
directors laid out a challenging course that started out following the mushers
trail, down towards the floor of Goldstream Valley. The snowshoe trail then
snaked up through the birch forest, to the ridge crest at the KUAC transmitter,
and descended back down to the start through more birch and aspen forest.
Prizes were awarded to the three fastest finishers who stayed for the awards
ceremony; prizes included gifts donated by the race sponsor, All Weather
Sports, plus a coveted Omaha Marathon bag donated by one of the race directors. |
