40th Annual

Gold Discovery Run

The Gold Discovery Run course utilizes trails and backroads lying along the ridges above the creek where Felix Pedro discovered gold in 1902. The 16.5-mile course starts at the Fort Knox mine haul road and follows the former Fairbanks to Circle City mining trail over rolling to steep terrain thru the forests for 7-1/2 miles. After intersecting Gilmore Trail the course follows Gilmore Trail to the west, and then the entire length of Gold Mine Trail to it's intersection with the Steese Highway, near mile 14.2. The last 2+ miles follows the Steese and Old Steese Highways to the Silver Gulch Brewery at the Fox Roadhouse in Fox..

Two starting times were offered, to better accomodate walkers and slower runners at the post-race barbecue. Busses departed the Silver Gulch Brewery between 7:15 am and 8:15 am,
to meet the two race starts from the Fort Knox Mine Road - at 8 am and 9 am
