Race Director's (and renowned "Heartland" columnist's) Comments

In the battle of the young versus the old, the young won this time. But just barely.

Lathrop senior Devin McDowell kept a hair's length ahead of master's runner Wayde Leder to capture first place in the Anti-Sonot/Bradway Classic 6-Miler on Saturday. McDowell posted a time of 36:50 while Leder was right behind with a time of 36:51. Nanook endurance athlete Justin Schumacher took third with a time of 36:54.

In the women's division Jane Lanford came in first with a time of 45:23. She was followed by Beverly Weis with a time of 46:18. Shirley Winther came in third with a time of 50:38.

The race started and ended at the North Star Volunteer Fire Department in North Pole. Many of the runners who entered considered the flat out and back course to be a good training run for the Tok Trot 10K, which is held in April. A total of 15 runners competed in the event.
