Our running season is winding down, the weather is changing, and the Equinox Marathon is right around the corner. It’s also time to think about the RCN Awards for Volunteer of the Year, Race Director of the Year, and Most Inspirational Runner of the Year. Take a moment to look back on the events you participated in and think about those you came in contact with. Were you inspired by someone’s abilities or determination? Did you see a happy and encouraging face handing out water on a trail or standing in the rain to cheer on participants or volunteering to help with timing? Maybe there’s a race director who puts on a fun or unique event?
There are many deserving individuals, so please take some time to nominate a person in one or all of those categories. They don’t have to be RCN members to qualify. And it’s so easy! All you have to do is fill in the nomination form on the RCN website here. You can also view a list of past winners in each category on the Awards Page. There are no restrictions on who can be nominated, and there are so many individuals in our community who are worthy.
Submissions are due by Tuesday, September 29 at midnight. Nominations will be given to a committee to vote on each category, and the recipients will receive a plaque at the Annual Usibelli Running Series and RCN Awards Banquet on Saturday, October 24 at 6:00. Looking forward to seeing a robust group of nominees.
