The 2015 Gold Discovery Run continued the 14 year string of a fun and safe event with wonderful, smoke-free weather on the “new” course. This year the race was dedicated to the late Jim Madonna, and the Daily News-Miner published a feature editorial on the event and Jim on Monday, July 27. Jim was both a running legend in Fairbanks, and a long term mining professor at UAF. If you have not seen the editorial, check it out on the News-Miner’s website at http://www.newsminer.com/opinion/editorials/running-to-remember-in-fox/article_4cf990a2-3425-11e5-b50b-2773fc58a407.html to read it.
Runners who won an age group medal and were not there to get it at the awards ceremony, or who left clothing items on the bus, and the one person who left a water bottle on the Mile 15 marker can contact runningclubnorthcalendar@gmail.com to get their items.
